Sonny Fazio, the company founder, started in the business as an owner / operator of a full service car wash in 1949 when the industry was in its infancy. Back then there were a few locations scattered throughout the United States washing cars in a conveyorized setting. Sonny started in the Boston area with the help of some relatives. Sonny’s two sons, Michael and Paul entered the industry in 1970 and 1980 respectively and continued to grow the car washing company to a multi-location, multi-state level. In 1978 Sonny founded a new company - Sonny’s Enterprises, Inc., and entered into the supply and manufacturing end of the car wash industry.
Sonny still vividly remembers the days when he started and can look back on how good the industry has been to his family. He felt that by going into the parts business he could drive the prices paid for supplies down and therefore help the individual operator. This concept was so successful that he also began producing equipment at the request of his sons. The result is equipment that is designed from an operator’s point of view. With his sons operating a chain of full service car washes in Boston, New Hampshire, Orlando, and Ft. Lauderdale, Sonny designed equipment in the field, and then tested it in his son’s busiest locations. With multiple operations, the goal is equipment that is easy to operate and maintain, and will produce a clean, dry, shiny product. The original intent was for Sonny to make the equipment just for his son’s washes. Subsequently, Sonny’s friends in the business, after seeing the equipment in operation, would request it for themselves so Sonny began producing it on a larger scale.
Today, SONNY’S Enterprises is an in-house manufacturer of world-class car wash systems and a renowned distributor of parts, accessories, and professional detailing products. Directed by Paul Fazio, the company is continuously expanding and now conducts its operation from their new 135,000+ sq. ft. manufacturing facility.
